Thank you to these community partners for their good work for prevention in June! Thank you to Sublette County Treatment Court participant Warren Phillips for partnering with Public Health and prevention to educate businesses and organizations on Narcan. Narcan is a medication that reverses opiate overdose and saves lives. Narcan saved Warren’s life from a fentanyl overdose, here in Sublette County. Warren is telling his story to spread awareness and to get Narcan out into the community where it can save lives.
Thank you to Sheriff KC Lehr for meeting with Warren and Public Health and working towards a policy for Narcan for patrol vehicles.
Sublette County Public Health can assist organizations to receive free Narcan through a Wyoming Department of Health program. The organization must have an approved policy for Narcan and complete the required training. We are very fortunate to have Warren’s help in this project. Big shout out to Sublette County Treatment Court for providing structure and support to Warren on his recovery journey.
To Deputy Marlene Johnston and Deputy Carol MacKenzie of the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office for teaching TIPS on June 6 - thank you to servers, owners and managers at the Waterhole #3, Wind River Brew Pub, and Stockman’s for supporting public safety with alcohol beverage server training.
Thank you to Trish and Neville Burt and all members of Boulder Roll Awareness and Prevention (BRAAP) for raising over $11,000 on June 10 to promote mental health and prevent suicide. Thank you also to Rev. Melinda Bobo and Associate Priest Randy Belton from St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming.
Since 2020 the Boulder Roll has been working with Melinda and Randy to raise funds and administer the Sublette Community Mental Health fund. The fund supports counseling services for any Sublette resident who chooses to receive counseling. This is a unique partnership - we don’t know of another partnership like this in Wyoming. We are blessed to have this fund in Sublette County. It has helped hundreds of Sublette residents of all ages to get mental health help.
Thanks also to the Boulder Roll for promoting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at the June event.
We are very grateful to Rev. Melinda Bobo for serving 3 years as Chair, and Aaron Preece for serving 3 years as Vice Chair of the Prevention Coalition!
