NOVEMBER 2022 IN PREVENTION


It is the month for giving thanks and we have a lot to be grateful for in prevention this month: Thank you to Big Piney High School for hosting last month’s coalition meeting. Thank you Principal Makelky, Sherri Redden and Norma Clements for collaborating on tobacco and suicide prevention for BPHS. Thank you county School Resource Officers and school counselors for posting “2 out of 3 high schoolers do not use marijuana” posters in the high schools. Thank you to all our schools for posting 988 info in the schools. Thank you to Sheriff Lehr for attending last month’s Suicide Prevention Task Force to share information and thoughts on effective responses to local crises and suicides. Thank you to the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs task force for their input on mental health and alcohol moderation media for the holidays. Huge thank you to Deanne Swain of D. Swain Design for hearing task force members' concerns loud and clear and designing great graphics for this media campaign. Please like and share these in your networks from our facebook and instagram pages Thank you to Jenny Arne from Pinedale Elementary School for representing Sublette County at the Governor’s Summit on Mental Health. Thank you to our State Rep. Albert Sommers for visiting with the Suicide Prevention Task Force on Monday 11/7 to talk about sponsoring a bill for the 2023 legislative session that will support increased mental health services for school students. Thank you to St. Andrew’s in the Pines Church and to Reverend Melinda Bobo for generously allowing us to use their meeting space this year! We are blessed and grateful for all our prevention partners in the schools, churches, law enforcement, businesses, and the greater community. Sheela Schermetzler from The Community Services Block Grant will conduct a community needs assessment and dialogue on poverty starting at 12:45 pm.
